All these fruits and vegetables can be ordered on the Farm Drive, to be eaten at "Table des jardiniers" or to take out.
In the middle of this timeless space stands a superb apiary made of hemp cob and half-timbered frames where the ladies the bees are busy producing delicious honey.

Nine gardens tied to an irrigation system that doesn’t interfere with the visitors’ foot traffic:
Three gardens (frames, children and tomatoes/potatoes.)
Four fruit gardens (cassier, red fruits, cordons, and peaches) completing the collection of fruit on the walls.
In total several hundred varities of fruit and vegetables that are featured in the Coffrets Fraicheurs (Fresh baskets) to be eaten on the terrasse of the Orangery or to take with you.
Four arched walkways lead to the gardener’s pond, of the Renaissance style, surrounded by benches to have quiet and peaceful moments.

The orchard-gardens are next to an English-Style park, near the orangery. They represent a space of 5244 square metersenclosed.
One can see the traces of the 19th Century: alleys leading to a circular pond “the gardener’s basin” with a hotroom nearby (featuring melons and fruit trees) which leads to the Orangery.
There are numerous varieties of apple and pear trees, including some cited in the 16th century in the reference books of that era, as well as others created in the 19th century.
It’s worth mentioning that Montigny is a good illustration of the advances in the science of fruit tree agriculture during the 19th Century.
Even the shape of the enclosure illustrates the search for an ideal: walls 3.6 meters high form an irregular polygon, taking advantage of the sun’s position during every season.
The savoir-faire of the time reached its peak with the sophisticated forms of trees: vases, pyramids, goblets…
We grow apple/pear trees with shapes horizonal, vertical or curved. The joining of productivity, rationality and aesthetics is thus achieved.

Orchard-Gardens on the model of the 19th Century
The rehabilitation of the orchard-gardens of Montigny, starting in 2010 was based on a preliminary study by Eric Pallot, chief architect of historical monuments, Marc Lechien, country architect for the parks and gardens of Champagne-Ardennes, and Marie-France Menage-Small, chateau owner.
The goal was to open a window to the savoir-faire of the gardeners of the 19th Century, featuring techniques used at the time, whether for espaliers or greffes.
It represents an opening to the public, especially scholarly groups, but also the creation of a place of apprenticeship and the transmission of knowledge for young interns, in partnership with the elementary and technical high schools, as well as workshops for the public at large.Our arboricultural, market gardening and beekeeping productions benefit from the ESPRIT PARC label
